Veterinary Tech Faces Cruelty Charges

Article excerpt

A veterinary technician at the Ridgefield Park Animal Hospital has been charged with animal cruelty and was issued 71 summonses for keeping several German shepherds at the Main Street facility, said Maureen Parenta, spokeswoman for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, on Tuesday.

The dogs, authorities said, were found in crates in the basement, in the main floor of the hospital, and back yard. Three full size dogs were found in a small crate, according to authorities, and another crate contained an adult dog and several puppies. Three dogs were running loose in the back yard, authorities said.

In all, 40 German shepherds were at the facility. …
