Giants' Wilson Remains on Hold

David Wilson's entire football career is reliant on speed.

Everything the Giants' running back does is, well, done fast.

Taking things slow? Not so much, as you would expect, so just imagine his anxiety as the waiting game preventing him from a full- fledged return to the field continued Wednesday despite his confidence that it would end.

Wilson was hoping to receive medical clearance for contact in a Wednesday morning appointment to check out his surgically repaired neck. While progress was made, the recommendation was for Wilson to undergo another follow-up July 21 - the day the Giants are set to report to training camp.

This was a step forward and not a setback, team physician Russell Warren said Wednesday, indicating the Giants remain cautiously optimistic Wilson will be cleared to participate in training camp at his next July visit.

"There has been significant progress and healing since David had the fusion," Warren said in a statement. "But the reality is it has only been four and one-half months since the surgery. …
