How did you spend your Fourth of July? Were you debating which multi-million dollar offer to take; what glamorous city to make your residence?

So Carmelo Anthony's holiday was probably a little different from yours and mine. Anthony finished his recruiting tour Thursday with a meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers. Then he sat down to show his vacation pictures -- or offers -- to Knicks president Phil Jackson and coach Derek Fisher, letting the Knicks contingent know what he'd heard on his travels. And team officials let Anthony know that while he's being courted across the nation, he is still wanted at home.

While money wasn't the topic of discussion at some of the stops, Anthony got enough information to know the Knicks can -- and are willing to if they must -- give him the most money, a five-year, $129.1 million deal. The Lakers reportedly will go to the max, too, although their number is four years and $95.9 million. The Mavericks already dropped out and the Bulls and Rockets can offer a much more immediate chance to win a title, but not the sort of financial windfall he can command in the other spots. …
