Missing Teaneck Man's Cellphone and Wallet Found

TEANECK -- Police retrieved the cellphone and wallet of a missing Teaneck man in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan on Tuesday, the man's mother said, as the search to find him continued.

Timothy Hamlett, 20, was last seen by his parents, Katherine and Archibald Hamlett, at their Wilson Avenue home on Friday night, when he told them he was going to visit a friend in the area. Hamlett is 6 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds and was last seen wearing jeans, sneakers and a blue or purple zip-up hooded Adidas jacket, police said.

Police with knowledge of the case could not be reached Wednesday. But Katherine Hamlett said that through GPS tracking, the family and police were able to pinpoint the cellphone's location. She said police recovered the phone and Coach wallet, which had a $10 bill in it, from people who claimed they found it unattended near Public School 173 on Saturday.

His parents said he has never gone missing before.

"My thinking was: it gave me a little sense of hope, if somebody beat him up and took his wallet and phone, they wouldn't leave $10 cash in it," Katherine Hamlett said. …
