The 2015 high school athletics season will be unlike any other. How do I know? Because that's what always happens.

But my other predictions for the 2015 season are not guaranteed, and are not meant to be taken seriously, or twice a day. They are merely one ice-cream obsessed columnist's ruminations on what special moments might lie ahead.

Winter

Public school football coaches continue to mobilize, threatening to forfeit games to non-public schools in the Big North United unless the NJSIAA can create a compromise.

Wayne Valley's Meaghan O'Donnell leads the Indians to a Passaic County swimming title by winning two races and anchoring two relays.

In the Bergen Jamboree, Teaneck is denied a fifth straight championship by Bergen Catholic in the final as Pierfrancesco Oliva scores 15 points and grabs 10 rebounds.

In the Passaic County tournament, Eastside wins the boys basketball title, holding off a sharp-shooting Passaic Valley. On the girls side, it's all Eastside, as the Ghosts knock off Passaic Tech.

Wrestling season ends with Bergen Catholic's Nick Suriano becoming a three-time state champion. Suriano celebrates with a doughnut, OK, half a doughnut, and commits to Iowa. DePaul's David McFadden cops his second title in Atlantic City.

New Milford senior linebacker Andrew McElroy signs with Brown.

The Ice Vault is hopping all winter long, highlighted by a Bergen County tournament final rematch between Ramsey and Don Bosco.The Ironmen score a late goal to triumph, 2-1. Wayne Hills takes down West Milford to win Passaic County title.

Catherine Pagano of Northern Highlands wins a lot of races on the track, Andrew Tummino of River Dell wins a lot of shot put and discus events. It snows on the first day of spring practice.

Spring

Big North United teams continue to try to fill out a football schedule to avoid playing public schools. A proposed 10-team league involving teams from non-public schools in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., is considered.

The final four in the Bergen County baseball tournament is Ridgefield, Demarest, Don Bosco and St. Joseph. Sophomore Devin Ortiz fires a five-hitter in the final as retiring Green Knights coach Frank Salvano wins his eighth county title.

Over in Passaic County, Passaic junior pitcher Joey Garcia twirls a no-hitter in the semifinals, but the Indians are knocked off by West Milford in the final. …
