Del Gizzo's Hat Trick Sparks the Tigers

HACKENSACK -- It has been a rough start to the season for Tenafly. A team with a good core but limited depth, the Tigers spent much of December looking to find themselves.

It didn't help that they lost a game to Madison on a goal in the final minute and were tied by Mountain Lakes on a goal at the final buzzer, two results that could have had them trying to earn a Bergen County tournament berth this weekend.

In their first game of the new year, the Tigers left no doubt against Paramus, scoring four second-period goals on the way to an 8- 2 win that could be the start of their resurgence.

"This is who we are," Tenafly coach Andy Escala said of his 17- player roster. "We've got some really talented players, but there's no depth. Those guys log some serious minutes, and when we get in against teams with depth we are going to struggle."

They made sure against Paramus (2-9-1) that there would be no late game-heroics going against them.

The Tigers (3-6-1) opened the scoring just 3:15 in, as Aviad Mizrahy found room in front and sent a high hard one into the upper right side, with Eric L'Heureux assisting on that tally for his 100th career point. …
