Benton, Ill. Charles E. Taft, 70, of Benton, passed away Saturday morning, July 5, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born on March 25, 1944, in Princeton, Ind., the son of Posey and Dorothy (McKee) Taft. He married Oletha (Minnemann) on July 19, 1980, and she survives.

Mr. Taft was a teacher and school administrator at Enfield High School in White County for 15 years.

He was a Licensed Financial Consultant, and retired in 2006. Mr. Taft was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Du-Quoin. He was a proud father and grandfather with his family was his number one priority. He loved being around them- especially watching Ty and Grant's football, basketball, and track events and Jessica's cheerleading and acrobat competitions.

Mr. Taft is survived by his wife, Oletha Taft of Benton; son, Jesse Gordon and wife Bobbi of Mulkeytown; grandchildren, Ty, Grant and Jessica; sisters, Connie Brown and husband John of Washington, Ind. …
