Pence Expecting 'Dividends' from U.K. Airshow Mission

INDIANAPOLIS - Gov. Mike Pence is on his second international economic development mission of the year - this time to London to highlight the state's reputation in the aerospace industry. Pence said the 22-member delegation of state and economic development officials on the trip are talking about the state to hundreds of businesses, and he anticipates the trip will pay "dividends" for the state in years to come. As part of the trip, state officials opened an Indiana booth at Farnborough International Airshow, an annual global aerospace industry event.

Pence said he felt it was important to go personally on the trip because he heard the event draws in not only businesses, but heads of companies. In speaking with the Courier & Press on Tuesday, Pence said he is meeting with leaders of Raytheon and Rolls-Royce.

He said the area around the Crane warfare center in Southwestern Indiana is ideal for defense contracting and private firms.

On Tuesday, Pence also took part in a roundtable hosted by the Aerospace Industries Association that focused on the competitiveness of the country's aerospace industrial base. …
