American Queen visit delayed until Monday

The American Queen riverboat, which was scheduled to make a stop in Henderson on Saturday, is running behind schedule because of river conditions on the Mississippi, according to the Henderson County Tourist Commission office.

The riverboat is now scheduled to dock in Henderson on Monday, arriving about 8 a.m. and departing about 7 p.m.

Additionally, the riverboat has added a stop Friday in Henderson as it makes its way back down the Ohio. During that visit, it is scheduled to be docked from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.


St. Mary's to open urgent care center in Boonville

St. Mary's Health plans to break ground Aug. 12 for a new urgent care facility in Boonville.

The projected completion date for the 6,000-square-foot facility, which will include three exam rooms, one procedure room and on-site lab and X-ray services, is by the end of the year. St. Mary's Urgent Care Boonville will be located on Indiana 62 in front of the Boonville Walmart.


Lincoln-Clark-Douglass reunion is Aug. 8-10

The Lincoln-Clark-Douglass Reunion will be held Aug. 8-10 at the Clarion Inn, 4101 N. U.S. 41.

Public portion of sheriff's office changing hours

Effective Friday, the public reception area of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Command Post at 5607 N. U.S. 41 will be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through

Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday and all county-observed holidays.

The Command Post contains the Field Operations Division, composed mainly of the patrol section and the criminal investigation section.

The sheriff's office remains a 24 hours a day, seven days a week operation. Only the public reception area is affected by the change.

The Command Post is monitored 24 hours a day by video surveillance and can be unlocked remotely when needed. An external phone has been installed, which will automatically call a control center at the Vanderburgh County Jail, 3500 Harlan Drive.

The Command Post can be reached during normal operating hours at 812-421-6201. Calls received after normal hours will be routed automatically to the jail.


'Hot shot' contest set Aug. 1 at Strassenfest

Vincennes University Jasper Campus will host the 13th annual "Coca Cola Hot Shot Basketball Shooting Contest" Aug. 1 as part of the 2014 Jasper Strassenfest.

The event will take place at the VUJC Ruxer Center Gym. The contest is free, and will offer divisions for boys and girls grades 2-12 and for adults.

Check-in and registration will begin at 8 a.m. EDT with the contest beginning at 9 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to first- place finishers in five age divisions.
