County to Hear Parks and Rec Master Plan

After more than one year, the parks and recreation master plan is ready.

The Shawnee County Commission on Thursday will hear a presentation of the final long range strategic master plan, which PROS Consulting has been developing since April 18, 2013.

"This master plan will be heavily used as a resource for future development and redevelopment of the county's parks, open space and recreation system over the next 10 years," the memorandum from department director John Knight states.

The commission will meet at 9 a.m. in its chambers in Room B-11 of the county courthouse, 200 S.E. 7th.

Several community issues have been on hold while waiting for this report, including a pool in the southwest part of the county to replace Crestview, which closed April 11, 2013, and the future of the Forbes Field Golf Course.
