Fairs and rodeos:

- The Jackson County 4-H Fair will be Monday, July 28, through Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Holton. Highlights will include exhibits, livestock sales, carnival and the fair parade and talent show on Wednesday, July 30.

- The Riley County Fair, featuring 4-H events, pedal tractor pull, carnival and fair food, will be from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday and Monday, July 27-28, in CiCo Park, 110 Courthouse Plaza in Manhattan. Information:

- The Douglas County Fair, featuring exhibits, barrel racing, antique tractor pull, demolition derby, carnival and petting zoo, will be Sunday, July 27, through Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper in Lawrence. Information: (785) 842- 6322.

- The 69th Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo, featuring bullfighters, clowns and specialty acts, will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, July 30-Aug. 2, in Tom Smith Stadium at the Central Kansas Free Fair, 619 N. Rogers in Abilene. Cost: $12 for adults; $6 for youths ages 4-10; free for children younger than 4. The Central Kansas Free Fair will be from Wednesday, July 30, through Tuesday, Aug. 5, with the fair parade at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 31. Information: (785) 263-4570.

- The Nemaha County Fair will continue through Monday, July 28, at the fairgrounds in Seneca.

Other events:

UNDER THE SEA -- The Wamego Summer Theatre Academy will perform "Disney's Little Mermaid Kids" at 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Columbian Theatre, 521 Lincoln Ave. in Wamego. Cost: $10-$15 for adults; $5-$10 for students and children. Information and tickets: (785) 456-2029.
