Beer and Balls: Jenks Indoor Soccer Facility Gets Liquor License

JENKS - Customers asked for it, so Turning Point Soccer Center began selling beer on Jan. 26.

"After a match, customers wanted a cold beer," said Shane Schwab, director of soccer operations and marketing manager for the indoor soccer fields.

The 29,000-square-foot facility has been open since November 2013. It obtained a liquor license in mid-January, according to Tulsa County records.

"Adults kept telling us if we'd sell beer, they would start coming," Schwab said. "It makes sense for a lot of them, this being in Jenks. We have a good location, as we are able to draw from Jenks and south Tulsa."

Another indoor facility, SoccerCity in Tulsa, also sells beer.

Kerry Shubert, SoccerCity general manager, said demand for soccer continues to increase in the Tulsa market.

"It is getting bigger and bigger," Schubert said. "Adults played soccer as kids and now they want to keep playing."

Shubert called Tulsa a hotbed of soccer. …
