Cycling Hub Opens after Success of Tour De France ; Rochdale Bike Storage Unveiled after Thousands Turned out to Watch Famous Race

ANEW cycling hub has been unveiled in Rochdale just days after the town's success in hosting the Tour de France.

The hub, which will have space for 42 bikes, has been designed for Rochdale town centre, next to the train station and Metrolink stop.

People will be able to sign up to use the hub and receive a smart card in order to gain access to the facility which will be covered by CCTV and house lockers for storing helmets and other accessories.

Developed by Transport for Greater Manchester in partnership with Rochdale council and the NHS the hub has been designed to make it cost effective and environmentally friendly.

Coun Chris Paul, TfGM committee cycling champion, along with Rochdale councillor Cecile Biant and members of Rochdale Cycling Club, was offered a sneak preview before the hub opens to the public this week.

Coun Paul said: "The new cycle hub is great news for Rochdale, coming hot on the heels of a new town centre Metrolink stop and transport interchange. …
