Reds Deserve a Big Fanfare

OK so football in general and the Premier League in particular dominate the sport agenda - even in the summer.

But for total commitment and excitement its hard to beat rugby league.

Friday's Salford-Leeds clash was one of the best games I have ever had the privilege to watch. It had everything - a blood and guts encounter with sub-plots galore and a grandstand finish.

The only issue for me was where were all the fans? Larger than life Reds owner Marwan Koukash has, to be fair, done his bit funding a star-studded team.

But sadly only just over 5,000 fans turned out and plenty of them were from the wrong side of the Pennines. Maybe it was simply that it was such a warm night and there was so much else to do - or they preferred to watch on Sky.

Just an idea Doc but how about getting the fans in the mood with barbecue food on sale outside the ground and maybe a brass band playing the fans' song of When The Reds Go Marching In? …
