HOCK TO BE LEADER OF REDS PACK ; Salford to Shuffle Pack for Main Man

GARETH Hock is in line to take on the key role of Salford Red Devils' pack leader next season. Hock, who is currently serving a seven-game suspension, is set to move from his customary role in the second row to a starting slot at loose forward.

According to club bosses, Hock is favourite to become what is known as a 'middle unit' - a forward, who links with the half- backs.

It means added responsibility for Hock, who started his career with Wigan as a talented half-back.

Coach Iestyn Harris has made strengthening the spine of the team a priority hence the decision to maximise Hock's powerful presence.

He would operate in tandem with the new half-back pairing of Rangi Chase and Michael Dobson, whose main job will be to organise the side.

Kevin Locke at full-back and Tommy Lee at hooker will complete a much stronger spine. However, Lee has been linked with a move away.

Hock, who was banned for making deliberate physical contact with referee Matt Thomason, still hopes to play again this season if the Red Devils make the play-offs. …
