Defender Hopes to Silence Boo-Boys after Shakers Return

NEW loan signing Tom Kennedy has vowed to win over the critics after returning to Bury last week.

The 29-year-old left-back has arrived on loan from Rochdale until January, with a view to a permanent move, and he played his first game for Bury in over seven years on Saturday.

But the local lad accepts some Bury fans may still be bitter about him joining Dale on a free transfer in 2007.

"People talk about me going to Rochdale but if I didn't go there what was I supposed to do, go out of the Football League?" he argued.

"Do I not play football any more? "It's my job, I had to do what was best for me and it worked out well.

"Even if I take a bit of stick it's part and parcel of the game.

"I'll just take it on my chin, keep giving 100 per cent for Bury and hopefully they'll turn round."

Kennedy went on to play in the Championship for Leicester, Peterborough and Barnsley before rejoining Dale in the summer, but he lost his place in Keith Hill's starting line-up in August. …
