aMIR Khan has goaded bitter rival Kell Brook by claiming the IBF welterweight champion represents an 'easy' option in the ring.

Khan faces Devon Alexander at the MGM Grand next month as he bids to secure a super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr next year.

The former double light welterweight world champion could have waited to face Brook in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley next Spring - but insists victory over Alexander will push him closer to a career- defining fight against Mayweather.

The 27-year-old from Bolton said: "I just want to fight the best guys out there and I want to beat the best and prove myself.

"That's the reason why we are taking this fight.

"We could have taken the easier fight and fought Kell Brook in the UK and made more money.

"But we want the big fights and I want to make a name for myself in America.

"While I am at this age I want to be facing the top guys.

"No disrespect to Kell, but if it was Kell I think it would have been an easier fight because he doesn't throw as many punches and he's quite easy to hit."

Khan stepped away from a potential fight with Alexander last year, believing he had secured a clash with Mayweather.

Alexander went on to lose his IBF title to Shawn Porter, who then lost the belt Brook.

There is little love lost between Khan and Brook, who have frequently traded verbal blows.

A fight between them finally looks likely to take place in 2015 - with Wembley Stadium the proposed venue.

And Khan's comments will only intensify the emnity between the two.

He went on to suggest Brook - who twice pulled out of fights with Alexander due to injury - might have been strategically avoiding the American.

A bicep injury also forced Alexander to pull out on one occasion, but Khan said: "Even though he (Brook) beat Shawn Porter, who beat Devon, styles make fights and maybe that style that Porter had was for Kell. It suited him. …
