JAMES Wilson says he's learning plenty from Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao - knowledge he hopes will help him break into the United first team.

The 18-year-old striker has been training with the first team since March and scored twice on his senior debut against Hull when Ryan Giggs was caretaker at the end of last season.

He's made five substitute appearances this season, but is yet to start a game under Louis van Gaal.

And despite watching United's star trio closely, he admits he's got his work cut out to get into the team ahead of them.

He said: "Going into training with them is obviously a great experience but on the other hand it's a big competition if I'm going to be breaking through into the first team.

"It's tough because they're all renowned for scoring goals at such a high level."

With a combined 1,300 senior games under their belts, Wilson revealed Rooney, van Persie and Falcao are also quick to offer advice to the younger players in van Gaal's squad. …
