REMEMBER ME Sun BBC1 9pm New series Remarkably, it's been more than 20 years since national treasure Michael Palin starred in a major television drama.

That was 1991's heavy-hitting political thriller GBH. Since then, Michael has appeared in films, presented hit travel documentaries and, most recently, reformed legendary comedy troupe Monty Python for a series of sell-out shows at London's O2 Arena.

But now he's finally flexing his thespian muscles once again in this three-part supernatural thriller. Michael plays a mysterious pensioner with a disturbing past, whose life is cursed by a dangerous ghostly presence.

We Love TV chatted to the showbiz legend about his new chiller and why he laughs in the face of retirement...

Why so long since your last TV drama? I've never lost the acting bug. I was waiting for the right script to come along, but something as good as Remember Me is quite rare. It's a quality project, unusual and very different to the kind of roles I'm generally offered. What stood out about Remember Me? For a start, it was a challenge to play a character who's at least 10 years older than myself, although I was quite hurt when the producers said they wouldn't need to use prosthetics or special effects to age me! I knew this role wasn't going to be easy and that was immediately intriguing to me. On a rating of one to 10, just how scary would you say this series is? Oh, definitely a 10. It's more psychological than full of gore. Remember Me is all about atmosphere and mood. I love ghost stories because they can have a visible effect on you. When we were filming this it was spooky and creepy. Some of the scenes are so terrifying, they even made the hairs on my neck stand on end.

It was also filmed in your home county of Yorkshire.

We were based around the Huddersfield area and some of the scenery was extraordinary. …
