Band Aid Becomes Bland Aid

We all have an opinion on Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's Band Aid 30's Do They Know It's Christmas? in aid of the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Some of us may have made up our own lyrics - and Bob even changed them for this year's 30th anniversary of the project featuring One Direction, Ellie Goulding and more.

But few of us have gone the whole hog and written and recorded a new version and filmed a video like Bland Aid have.

The parody version of the Christmas song - Fleece the World - was initially started as a 'bit of a joke' but the video rapidly went viral and has so far had over 45,000 hits on Youtube.

"We were just messing around with the lyrics, taking the mick out of Bob Geldof and Midge Ure.

"But then we thought, 'Why not record it?',' as it does raise a serious point - charity starts at home," said Dave O'Rourke, who alongside pal Bern Corri came up with the Bland Aid concept. …
