MELANIE Shaughnessy, 38, from Middleton, weighed 20st 7lbs before losing four stone.

She said: "I've been given stick about my weight all my life.

"I was always big but when I lost my dad in 1991 I started to comfort eat.

"From then on I would get comment after comment about my weight.

"When I was out people would call me a fat b****** or if I was in a shop and asked for a bigger size, staff would laugh at me.

"One of the nastiest things that happened to me was just before I was going to be a bridesmaid for my friend.

"I had planned to lose weight but hadn't managed to so I was feeling very low about the way I looked.

"I decided I'd go to a tanning salon to give myself a bit of a boost before the big day.
