Sport's Family Gather to Pay Fitting Tribute to Alan

RUGBY League's proud and often envied 'family game' image will clearly be in evidence at Salford Red Devils' AJ Bell Stadium home tomorrow.

Many fans from a variety of clubs at professional and amateur level will be turning out for the Salford/Swinton derby clash to raise money for the family of the late Alan Henning.

Alan, pictured right, was a taxi driver from Eccles who was brutally murdered by terrorists last year in the Middle East while undertaking voluntary aid work.

Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash has said all proceeds from the game will be going to the Henning family who will be at the game.

Iain Peacock, a former fanzine editor and lifelong Salford fan says he will be delighted to see and welcome visiting supporters to the AJ Bell Stadium.

Iain said: "I have noticed many fans have been saying on social media they are going to do their very best to be at Salford tomorrow offering their additional support.

"That's rugby league for you. They probably want to do this because they realise the significance of the occasion. …
