Hansen Can Be Salford's Own Captain Fantastic, Says Alker

HARRISON Hansen will do what his father Shane did and lead by example as Salford Red Devils skipper.

Shane Hansen remains a cult hero among Salford fans and another Reds' icon - Mal Alker - is tipping Harrison to follow suit.

Salford owner Marwan Koukash labels the former Wigan back rower 'a true warrior' - it's a fitting title according to Alker.

No player put his body on the line for the Reds' cause more than Alker.

Harrison has big boots to fill after taking over the captaincy from fellow Salfordian Adrian Morley but Alker is backing him to revel in the role.

Alker told M.E.N. Sport: "I have never heard Harrison speak in a dressing room but he has a wealth of experience and I am sure he can be guaranteed to lead by example.

"He is one of those players who can set high standards.

"He was a very tough and direct opponent to play against and I am sure it will be a great honour for him to be captain - especially with him being a local lad and with his dad having skippered Salford. …
