? BBC Radio Manchester's new Breakfast show duo are preparing for their early start from Monday - and aim to get the whole of Manchester wide awake along with them.

Phil Trow and Alison Butterworth are the new early breakfast team taking over from BBC favourite Allan Beswick who is moving to a new late night show at the station.

And both Phil and Alison, who have worked together previously, are looking forward to the new, early morning challenge.

Even if it does mean some "face ironing" might be required, according to Alison!

Alison laughs: "I'm just really looking forward to getting up at 4.30am in the morning! It's a good job it's radio as I suspect I'll still have the imprint of the duvet down my face!

"But of course once you're up it's actually the best time of day, and we get to wake people up every day.

"It's like being the first one with the gossip in the morning."

Phil says: "I've always been a morning person so it will be great for me."

They've got a very special guest lined up for their debut show on Monday, from 6am to 9am, although they're remaining tight-lipped for now as who that might be. …
