The City skipper says that his team, which failed to close the gap despite dominating the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, is entirely comfortable as they gear up for tomorrow's game with Hull. "This is just such a usual situation for us," said Kompany. "Five points behind in January or February? Big deal!

"We feel very comfortable, as we have been in that position many times before. We don't get overexcited, we don't get overconfident and we don't get too desperate as well.

"We just have a job to do, and when we have to, usually we do turn up, so the team is ready for whatever happens next."

The Blues have already whittled down an eightpoint gap this season with a powerful run of eight wins and a draw leading up to New Year's Day.

That meant the two clubs went into 2015 tied at the top of the table, with identical records.

Since then, City have drawn with Everton and Chelsea and lost to Arsenal to allow the leaders to stretch their lead again. But Kompany is warning Jose Mourinho's men that they will be pushed all the way.

"Fair play to them," he said. "If they win every single game between now and the end of the season, by all means, win the league, but there is a chance for us to win more games than any other team, so we have to try and take that chance.

"That is what we have done in previous years. There will be some tricky games coming up for us, but we are better in those moments.

"I think Chelsea now look solid. They look like they know what they are doing, they have experience and a lot of great players - but we have too.

"So I really think it will go all the way. It's going to make this league interesting. It's going to be exciting. I wish I could say we are going to win it a couple of weeks before the end of the season! …
