WIGAN Warriors boss Shaun Wane enjoyed a tough, tense arm wrestle with Hull and is licking his lips ahead of the big one against Leeds at Headingley.

Wigan had a late Matty Smith drop goal to thank for their 13-12 win over Hull but the team's determined attitude pleased Wane who simply wanted a return to winning ways for his side.

Wane, smarting after losing at Hull KR and Castleford, saw his side 'bomb'several good chances but knew the winning margin could and should have been greater.

'We were 80 per cent better against Hull than we were at Castleford," said Wane.

'We had to improve and our defence improved massively.

'We had an awful week building up to and preparing for the Hull game but we are honest and we worked hard to get a win.

'If we show the same attitude at Headingley, we will be fine.

'We still have a lot to work on but winning again was vital. …
