lCITY will resist any attempts by Marseille to take their elite development squad manager Patrick Vieira.

The French club are reported to have lined up the former Arsenal and France legend to replace Marcelo Bielsa, whose job is under severe pressure.

Vieira is on a rolling contract at City, but is highly regarded by the senior management of the club and seen in some quarters as future management material.

The 38-year-old, who had spells in Italy with Juventus and Inter Milan before joining City in January 2010, has been working towards his Uefa coaching badges since retiring from playing in the summer of 2011.

The former midfielder, who won the 1998 World Cup, said in October that he feels he still has a lot to learn before taking a managerial post, and felt City was perfect for his education.

"I am in the right place because I have people who believe in me, and who give me the tools I need to improve certain aspects of my coaching, people who want to see me succeed," he said. …
