BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Bibb County Sweeps Two from Jemison

CENTREVILLE | Bibb County hosted Jemison in a baseball doubleheader on Saturday and won both games to clinch the AHSAA Class 4A, Area 7 championship. The Choctaws (15-10, 4-0) won the first game 8-6 with Matthew Price (4-2) pitching a compete game for the win. He struck out two, allowed nine hits and six runs.

Bibb County's offense was powered by Justin Cottingham who was 2- for-4 with a home run and an RBI, Tanner Wallace who was 2-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and a double, and Kirk Dowdle who hit 1-for- 2 with two runs scored, including a home run, and a walk.

The Choctaws were 12-9 winners in the second game with T.J. Lockett hitting 2-for-2 and scoring five runs. He had a walk and was twice hit by pitches to advance. Peyton Holdsambeck hit 1-for-2 with two runs scored. He had an RBI, walked and hit two sacrifice bunts. Tanner Wallace batted 2-for-4 with a run scored and a walk. Wallace (1-1) was also the winning pitcher in game two. He pitched 3




innings and allowed three runs on five hits while striking out three batters.

Bibb County hosts Gordo on Monday.

GORDO | Sipsey Valley (19-9, 5-1) clinched the AHSAA Class 3A, Area 6 championship with the win. Hitters for Sipsey Valley included Landen Davis who went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, Justin Thomas who was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Blake Gray who also had a hit. Cody Mills (5-2) was the winning pitcher. He pitched four innings and allowed three hits.

Gordo's leading hitter was Marcus Jones, who batted 2-for-4.

Sipsey Valley hosts Greensboro on Tuesday.

Oak Mountain 4,

Hillcrest 0

BIRMINGHAM | Hillcrest fell in the first of two games it played Saturday in Birmingham. J.C. Frederick hit 2-for-2 in the loss, and Austin Williams and Hunter Linn both had one hit.

Briarwood 8

BIRMINGHAM | With the game tied 8-8 in the top of the seventh inning, Joseph Besant hit a base hit to score Dillon Broughton to get the go-ahead run for Hillcrest. Lee Clark was the winning pitcher for the Patriots (18-14) who were playing their second of two games Saturday against Birmingham teams. Clark stepped in and pitched the seventh inning for the win, allowing no hits and one walk and striking out one batter. At the plate, Clark led with 3- for-5 hitting. Austin Dickerson was 2-for-4.

Hillcrest hosts Northridge on Tuesday.

Clay-Chalkville 3

HOOVER | Keegan Schafer (4-2) pitched for the win, throwing five innings and striking out one and walking two. Zach Evans hit 2-for- 4 with a double and an RBI. Blake Stiteler was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Hunter Rush was 1-for-3 with a triple, and Parker Montgomery was 1- for-2 with a double.

Tuscaloosa County 10,

Spain Park 3

HOOVER | Cody Bolton hit 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Joe Rice was 3-for-4 with a triple, and Landon Andrews went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. …
