Big Inning Lifts Jags Past TCHS

NORTHPORT | Up 2-1 entering the seventh inning, the Northridge Lady Jaguars softball team put together a four-run inning to defeat Tuscaloosa County 6-1 in a Class 6A, Area 9 matchup.

The Jaguars started the inning with two consecutive hits, but a wild pitch moved the runners to second and third base. Northridge's Emma Holder hit a hard ball to Tuscaloosa County shortstop Keelie Housley. Tuscaloosa County turned the double play when Housley threw the ball to home plate saving the run and catcher Lindsay Turner threw out Holder at first base.

With two outs, the Wildcats looked to get out of the inning. Instead, the Jags got three hits and four runs after the double play to give them a 6-1 score going into the bottom of the seventh.

Northridge finished with seven hits on the night, four of those coming in the seventh inning. Coach Denton Bowling said capitalizing on Tuscaloosa County's mistakes was the turning point of the game.

"We didn't hit the ball great, they had a couple of defensive miscues," Bowling said. …
