BROOKWOOD | The Brookwood Panthers posted a 4-7 record last season, but won enough region games to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

"We don't have a lot of starters coming back, but we've got a lot of kids that played a lot of minutes last year," coach Ricky Bush said. "We've got some new kids that have come out that are very athletic. I expect that those kids will progress all the way through the year."

Anthony McCostlin will be the featured running back with Justin Carter backing him up. Other backfield candidates are Jay Buffer and Parker Bearden. Ricky Bush said Bearden can play at fullback and fill in as a backup quarterback.

Nate Craft, Caleb Franks (Seth's older brother) and Conner Rhodes are wide receivers.

"Nate's going to allow us to do a lot of things," Ricky Bush said. …
