Northridge Softball Eliminated from Regional

VESTAVIA HILLS | After losing to Gardendale 3-2 in Friday's opener, the Northridge Lady Jaguars bowed out of the North Central Regional with a 15-1 loss to Oak Mountain in five innings.

Northridge, which made its first regional appearance as a Class 6A softball team, finished with a 39-22 record. The Lady Jaguars qualified by placing second to Hillcrest in the Area 9 tournament.

"Emotionally, we came here glad to be here, but we didn't come out prepared to play," said Northridge coach Denton Bowling. "The first time you show up at one of these things we're still kind of looking at all the surroundings rather than knowing we've got to take care of business. It cost us defensively. I've said defense wins ballgames. Today it cost us."

Bowling said his team committed five errors in each game.

Against Gardendale, Northridge got its first run in the fourth inning. …
