Hale County Falls Short against Lamar County

MOUNDVILLE | The Lamar County Bulldogs came back from a one- point halftime deficit and spoiled the Hale County Wildcats' senior night with an 18-13 win in a Class 2A, Region 4 game Friday night.

Hale County had one last chance with just under three minutes on the clock. A 25-yard run by quarterback Deacon Medders moved the ball to the Wildcats' 42, but two plays that resulted in 12 yards of losses put the Wildcats in a third-and-22 situation. Medders threw a 12-yard pass to Evan Junkin, but his pass on fourth-and-10 fell incomplete.

Hale County coach Joey Milligan thought his team, especially the 14 seniors, deserved praise.

"I'm proud of the team," Milligan said. "They played hard. I'm proud of the seniors for playing hard, I just hate we came out on the short end."

Scoring on a 10-yard touchdown catch by Aaron Sheffield, Hale County took a 7-6 lead into halftime.

After holding the Bulldogs on their first drive of the second half, the Wildcats started their first drive of the half at their own 7-yard line. …
