HOMEWOOD | Hillcrest lost to Homewood, 44-37 in the Metro Invitational on Saturday in high school basketball action.

Malik Cook had 14 points for Homewood.

Jarad Pruitt had nine points to pace Hillcrest (16-2).

GREENSBORO | The Hale County tournament, which began a week ago and featured teams from all over the county playing one another for bragging rights, ended Saturday with 13-0 Sunshine defeating host Greensboro for the championship.

Sunshine's Cletrel Pope, who scored 30 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the final, was voted tournament MVP.

Four Sunshine players scored in double figures, led by Pope. Keontae Edwards scored 19, Walter Jones, Jr. 14 and Herbert Jones 13.

Derondrick Warner led Greensboro with 16, Cedric Holifield with 15 and Zavian Tinker 11.
