Alabama Women's Basketball Drops SEC Road Game to Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. | The Alabama women's basketball team fell in its first SEC road contest of the season, 64-47, at No. 19 Georgia on Sunday in Stegeman Coliseum.

With the loss, the Crimson Tide dips to 11-6 overall and 0-2 in league play, while the win lifts the Lady Bulldogs 13-2 on the season and 1-1 in the SEC.

Sophomore Ashley Williams and freshman Quanetria Bolton led Alabama in scoring with 12 points apiece, while Williams and senior Sharin Rivers led the Crimson Tide on the boards with six rebounds each.

Junior Tiaria Griffin had a game-high 16 points for Georgia, 14 of which came in the first half.

Georgia scored nine unanswered points to start the game before Williams laid in the first basket for Alabama at 16:36.

From there, the Lady Bulldogs hit eight of their next nine attempts to pull ahead 23-7 with 12:21 remaining in the period. …
