Tuscaloosa's Half Marathon Is Saturday Morning

More than 1,300 pairs of athletic shoes will trample over 13.1 miles Tuscaloosa streets Saturday as runners from across the United States participate in the annual Tuscaloosa Half Marathon, Fun Run and 5K.

Participants will start at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater at 7 a.m. and run through downtown Tuscaloosa, the University of Alabama campus and along the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk.

Roads will not be blocked off, and drivers are encouraged to drive cautiously through these areas Saturday morning, said race co- director Kelsey Colglazier. The roads should be clear of runners by 10:45 a.m.

Colglazier said the half marathon "really showcases how great Tuscaloosa is" to out-of-towners while generating revenue for Tuscaloosa businesses, encouraging healthy lifestyles and raising funds for two local organizations that benefit the community.
