Alabama Women's Golf Ready for NCAA Regional

It's tournament time for Alabama women's golf.

The Crimson Tide get their NCAA Regional going today as the No. 8 seed in the Raleigh, N.C. as it vies to be one of six teams to advance to the national tournament.

Alabama is playing its best golf in the past month headlined by a win at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Tuscaloosa in late March and a fifth place finish in the SEC Tournament.

"I thought we were going to be the kind of team that has to develop as we went along and try to peak toward the end of the year," said Mic Potter, who has taken his team to the NCAA Regional in all 10 seasons as UA's head coach. " We're getting there, we're a little behind pace but we're playing really good right now."

Potter likes his team's position in this particular tournament as well. Of the seven teams seeded ahead of Alabama, Potter said his team finished ahead of six of those teams at least once during the season. The course -- Lonnie Poole Golf Club -- also fits the profile of the courses his team has played on during the back part of the season. …
