School District to Allow Ads on Its Website

North Hills school directors have decided to permit advertising on the district website as a revenue source that does not involve taxpayer money.

Board members voted unanimously last Thursday to approve a contract with Thought Process Enterprises of Ellwood City to sell and design up to two ads per page.

The district will receive 50 percent of the ad revenue. There are no other fees.

"We have a very significant website audience," said board member Mike Yeomans. "In an area where we had cost before, now we will have revenue."

North Hills has made $9,000 by partnering with local businesses on such things as stadium advertising and sponsorships.

Thought Process Enterprises handles advertising on websites for more than 20 Pennsylvania school districts. Among the local districts are Seneca Valley and Butler Area.

North Hills is redesigning its website.

In other action, the board unanimously approved two policy changes.

One change adds performance levels of advanced, proficient, basic and below basic to math grades for students in grades 1-6, and performance levels of "meets expectations," "progressing" and "needs improvement" for kindergarten students. …
