WHEN THE COLTS HAVE THE BALL

Key performers: QB Andrew Luck, RB Trent Richardson, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, WR T.Y. Hilton, WR Hakeem Nicks, TE Coby Fleener, TE Dwayne Allen

Who's hot: The Colts have scored an NFL-best 216 points and the reason is Luck, who leads the AFC in attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns. His favorite target is Hilton (47 catches), but Luck will spread his throws. The Colts are the only team in the league with seven players with 15 or more catches.

What's been working: Bradshaw (6), Allen (3) and Fleener (3) have been reliable targets in the red zone, combining to catch 12 of Luck's 15 touchdowns inside the opponent's 20. Before this season, Bradshaw had only three TD catches in his eight-year career.

Game plan: The Colts control the clock with short passes by Luck and a steady, but not flashy running game with Richardson and Bradshaw. They lead the league in average time of possession (36:56), which keeps their defense off the field and rested.

Keep an eye on: The Colts have committed 13 turnovers in seven games, one fewer than last season when they led the NFL with 14 (10 interceptions, four fumbles). Luck has thrown seven interceptions and the Colts have lost six of 10 fumbles.

Key performers: DE Cory Redding, DT Arthur Jones, LB Bjoern Werner, MLB D'Qwell Jackson, CB Vontae Davis, CB Greg Toler

Who's hot: Davis has been playing as well as any cornerback in the league and leads a secondary that ranks fifth in the league in pass defense. Davis had four passes defended in last week's 27-0 victory against Cincinnati and leads the team with 12.

What's been working: The Colts are no longer built around Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis and Bob Sanders. Instead, they have a bunch of no-names who are allowing an average of 15 points in their five- game win streak and have held the opponent to just one first down in each of the past four games. …
