'Gameday' Makes Big Hit Wvu Students Give Espn's Crew Warm and Early Reception

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Chris Fowler wore a broad grin Friday as he spoke about the West Virginia campus reaction to ESPN "College GameDay" making its first visit to Morgantown since the 2011 season.

It was a great visit three years ago, he recalled, as fans dressed in gold lined the hillside along Maiden Lane and students packed every balcony within earshot of the GameDay set.

But this is different. As Fowler stepped off the iconic orange GameDay bus Friday morning, he was met with the sight of West Virginia's "Tent City," a few hundred small and colorful shelters pitched around the GameDay set on the Mountainlair Green.

"To see this army of tent people that have been here since Sunday, that is not the norm," Fowler said. "That's not what we see every week. It's very flattering."

Despite the mid-40s forecast for this morning, Fowler said the ESPN crew will "be happy to piggy-back off [the fans'] enthusiasm" when GameDay goes live at 9 a.m. …
