The WPIAL has released sites for quarterfinal playoff games. All games will be played Friday at 7:30 p.m.

In Class AAAA, Pine-Richland plays Altoona at Gateway, Penn- Trafford plays North Allegheny at Fox Chapel, Central Catholic meets Woodland Hills at North Allegheny and Plum takes on McKeesport at Norwin.

In Class AAA, Central Valley plays Indiana at Butler, Thomas Jefferson meets Mars at Chartiers Valley, West Allegheny plays Franklin Regional at North Hills and Hampton takes on Ringgold at West Allegheny.

In Class AA, South Fayette plays South Park at Peters Township, Aliquippa plays Mount Pleasant at Canon-McMillan, Washington meets Apollo-Ridge at Latrobe and Highlands takes on Seton-LaSalle at Valley.

In Class A, Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic meets South Side Beaver at Geneva College, Clairton plays Shenango at Chartiers-Houston, Neshannock plays Jeannette at Deer Lakes and Riverside takes on Avonworth at Moon.

NHL: Pens bring up Harrington

The Penguins today recalled defenseman Scott Harrington from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

This is the third time Harrington has been recalled this season but he has yet to play in an NHL game. In seven AHL games, he has two assists.

Defenseman Olli Maatta is expected to be sidelined the next four weeks after having a tumor removed from his thyroid gland.

Ducks beat Avalanche

DENVER - Defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Cam Fowler scored their first goals of the season 1:44 apart in the second period, and emergency starter Jason LaBarbera stopped 16 shots, lifting the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday night.

Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who went 3-1 on a four- game trip. Perry leads the league with 11 goals.

Jets edge Blackhawks

CHICAGO - Michael Hutchinson stopped 33 shots for his first career shutout, and Michael Frolik scored 20 seconds in on the first shift of the game to lead Winnipeg over Chicago 1-0.

The Jets extended their point streak to five games (4-0-1) and recorded their second shutout in two nights. No. 1 goalie Ondrej Pavelec beat the Rangers 1-0 in New York on Saturday in a shootout.

Forsberg leads Nashville

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Filip Forsberg scored twice and added an assist, and Nashville held on to top Vancouver 3-1.

Colin Wilson also scored, and Pekka Rinne made 26 saves for the Predators (7-2-2).

NBA: Warriors rally for win

PORTLAND, Oregon -Klay Thompson scored 29 points, including a go- ahead jumper with 8.7 seconds left, and the Golden State Warriors defeated Portland Sunday night.

The victory gives the Warriors three straight wins to open the season - their best start since 1994-95 when they opened 5-0. …
