Raiders' Semple Simply Relentless

Article excerpt

One thing any opponent of Corbin Semple must understand is that this Waynesburg Central senior wrestles six hard minutes -- more if needed -- in every single match.

Semple will suffocate the opposition with work and keep in his face until the final buzzer.

For some, it is six minutes of furious opposition. For others, it is an overwhelming sense of relief when it is over.

Semple went 38-8 last year. He had lost just four bouts this season through Wednesday's action, dropping a pair of decisions to defending PIAA champion Nick Guida of Parkland and two to Litton.

In the two losses to Guida, Semple was in the bout with the opportunity to win.

"I think I have done as well as I can so far," Semple said. "I think I could be in a little better shape than I am.

"I think I did better against Litton than I did Guida and actually was closer against Guida than Litton. …
