Summer internships are available citywide

Mayor Bill Peduto's office announced Tuesday a citywide summer internship program that will "give young minds an opportunity to learn about city government."

Though city departments have hosted interns in the past, this is the first centralized application process for paid and unpaid internships coordinated by the Department of Personnel and Civil Service Commission, a spokeswoman for Mr. Peduto said. The jobs are open to college students or graduates over the age of 18.

Paid positions will average $10 an hour and will involve a minimum of 20 hours a week. Paid interns must live within the city borders. The deadline to apply for a summer 2015 internship is 4 p.m. April 20. To apply, create an online profile at https:// www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/employmentcenter/
