Officials plan to continue searching this morning for a Carnegie man who climbed over an observation deck railing at Ohiopyle State Park to have his photo taken and slipped into a waterfall below, the park manager said.

After a daylong search, only Michael Davila's shoes had been located.

The 20-year-old was visiting the park with friends when he climbed over the railing onto a bank and slipped on black ice around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, park manager Ken Bisbee said.

Mr. Davila plummeted into the 20-foot-high Ohiopyle Falls below.

The search was suspended Wednesday evening for the sake of first responders' safety, Mr. Bisbee said. As night fell, the water became dark and was fast-moving. The search will resume around 8:30 or 9 this morning.

Fifty to 60 park rangers, EMS and fire companies searched for Mr. Davila by air, water and land.

Helicopters flew overhead, kayakers navigated the river, and search team members checked both banks and watched the river from a bike trail bridge. …
