Dress Code Gov. Wolf Should Stick with His Police Nominee

The reality show "What Not to Wear" ended in 2013, but Pennsylvania state troopers seem determined to resurrect it in their sorry treatment of Col. Marcus Brown.

Gov. Tom Wolf's pick to lead the state police, Mr. Brown has been the subject of a venomous campaign that began when he chose to wear the gray uniform of state troopers. It flared anew last week when Mr. Brown was videotaped pulling up signs that were critical of him.

The board of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association has since announced a unanimous "no-confidence" vote and asked Mr. Wolf to reconsider his choice. The governor shouldn't. Mr. Brown is a well-qualified lawman, and there's nothing that says the leader of Pennsylvania's state troopers must be a graduate of the state police academy in Hershey - in fact, the vehemence of his opponents suggest the agency could benefit from fresh leadership.
