Defending All Star Champ Blaney Lands on Feet

Sometimes when you are good, you get lucky.

Dale Blaney, the defending champion of All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars, is counting his lucky stars this week after his now-former car owner, Tony Kennedy, decided to sell his racing operation shortly before the season began north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

According to Janet Holbrook, a co-owner and team manager of a new team for Blaney and his mechanic, George Fisher, this deal came together quickly.

"This deal came together in about four or five days, which is pretty quick," Holbrook said.

Tod Quiring, the owner of Mainstream Holdings Inc., will provide the funding as a marketing partner, according to a news release.

Mainstream Holdings owns Big Game Treestands and Muddy Outdoors (hunting accessories), which will be the primary sponsors on the No. 1 sprint car driven by Blaney, a five-time All Star Sprints champion, with Fisher as the mechanic.

The Blaney-Fisher duo accounted for 16 wins on the All Star Sprint Circuit in 2014 and their third All Star championship title together.

For Blaney, the news of possibly losing his ride couldn't come at a worse time since there usually aren't many driving opportunities available this time of year.

"I am 51 years old and opportunities might not be available as much as there used to be," Blaney said. "But when one door closes, another usually opens.

"If we won three races last year, I am probably searching for a ride right now, but winning 16 races last year really helped."

For the Dynamic Duo of Blaney and Fisher, transitioning between teams isn't new.

"We are in as good of a position as we've ever been in," Blaney said. "We've been there before with a new owner and sponsor. We're in good shape; we just have to get something done with it."

For co-owner Holbrook, it's another opportunity to get back into running a "410" Sprint Car after competing in a lower division. …
