The borough will be receiving flood cleanup assistance under the Goodwill Program to remove debris in the Plum Creek area.

Borough Manager Adeline Brown reported that Dave Reason of the Goodwill Program met with borough representatives last week to determine what work needs to be completed. The program, which is offered through the Alle-Kiski Council of Governments, provides free labor for flood cleanup.

Brown said Reason will schedule workers to do the cleanup. It will be up to the borough to bring in equipment. Cost for the work has not been determined.

Penn Hills

Robert Larko likes living in the municipality and has ideas of his own how budget planners can keep services without increasing taxes.

So Monday he plans to share some of those ideas at the 7 p.m. budget hearing.

A preliminary 2005 budget proposes spending $20.7 million and cutting some services and staff, including library employees, parks department workers and school crossing guards. …
