No. 3 is OK with Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel says he expects to settle in as the third-rated talk show host in late-night television, even as early ratings suggest he's very competitive in his new time slot.

ABC's funnyman is finishing his first week in a new 10:35 p.m. slot, St. Louis time, competing directly with Jay Leno on NBC and David Letterman on CBS.

Kimmel said on Friday that "Jimmy Kimmel Live" has scheduled Matt Damon as a guest on Jan. 24. Kimmel has a long history with Damon, frequently joking at the end of his show that he ran out of time and couldn't get Damon on the air as planned.

Kimmel's show finished third in viewership Thursday but first in the youthful demographic ABC seeks.

Hollywood mobsters help small theaters * Some of Hollywood's big- name mobsters are helping save small-town theaters.

Stars from "The Sopranos" and "Goodfellas" joined with Florida- based nonprofit Save America's Cinemas to help smaller theaters transition to digital. The conversion has forced many small theaters to go silent.

The stars gathered Friday in Miami Beach to donate a screen, projector and processor to Cinema Saver of Endicott, N.Y. Rachel Daddezio with the theater says the new equipment "will save our theater and it will save our community."

Walter T. Shaw, a filmmaker and former jewel thief for the mafia, started the group. He says as many as 60 theaters have reached out for help.

Tony (Paulie Walnuts) Sirico and Vincent (Big Pussy) Pastore of "The Sopranos" and Mike Starr and Debi Mazar from "Goodfellas" attended the event.

Tough week for Britney * Britney Spears announced Friday that she has ended her yearlong engagement, capping a week of changes that included her leaving "The X Factor" and promising fans she was returning her focus to music.

Within hours of confirming her departure from the Fox reality series, Spears also announced that her relationship with talent agent Jason Trawick had ended.

"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement," Spears said in the statement. …
