ST. CHARLES > Boy struck by vehicle * An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle while walking on the St. Charles riverfront, police said. Police said the boy was in critical condition at an area hospital after the incidentshortly after 4 p.m. in the 700 block of South Riverside Drive.

ST. LOUIS > Man is fatally shot * A man was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Subway in the 1200 block of Hampton Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Friday. The man, believed to be in his mid-30s, was shot in the neck. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital were he was pronounced dead, St. Louis Police Lt. Clifford States said.

States said the investigation was still ongoing. Early reports suggested that a dog could have also been shot. Although a Humane Society van was at the scene, States would not confirm any details about the dog. States said the suspected shooter had fled north on Hampton in a vehicle.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY > Ex-Charlack official convicted on corruption charge * A St. Louis County jury found on Friday former Charlack police chief and city administrator Anthony Umbertino guilty of stealing from the city. The jury deliberated about three hours before returning the guilty verdict, said Ed Magee, a spokesman for St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch. Umbertino was charged with stealing more than $500 between June 11, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2010. St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge Michael D. Burton had dismissed two corruption charges earlier in the trial, Magee said. Sentencing was set for Dec. 19. David J. Gregory, Umbertino's attorney, could not be reached late Friday.
