EAST ST. LOUIS FLYERS vs. PEORIA NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH

When, where: 1 p.m., Peoria Richwoods High School.

What: Class 6A quarterfinal.

Records: East St. Louis 7-4; Peoria Notre Dame 11-0.

Last week: East St. Louis 67, Normal West 28; Peoria Notre Dame 41, Chatham Glenwood 0.

Notes: The Fighting Irish have a tough ground game headed by senior Andrew Shadid (6-1, 185). He had more than 250 yards and three touchdowns against Chatham Glenwood in the second round. ... The Flyers are making their eighth quarterfinals appearance under coach Darren Sunkett. The team is 4-3 in the previous seven. ... Look for the Flyers to try to run the ball on the Fighting Irish. Seniors Natereace Strong (5-11, 205) and Marvin Young (6-0, 190) have become quite a one-two punch. Strong, a Missouri recruit, is averaging 202 yards per game in the playoffs while Young is even better with 212.5 per game. The duo has combined for 11 touchdowns in two playoff games.

What: Class 5 quarterfinal.

Records: Jackson 11-1; Ladue 11-1.

Last week: Jackson 39, Vianney 35; Ladue 34, Webster Groves 28.

Notes: Jackson stunned Vianney by rallying for 36 unanswered points in the second half. Quarterback Dante Vandeven threw for 497 yards and five second-half touchdowns. Jackson scored twice in the last 83 seconds to earn the victory. ... Ladue had its own comeback, beating Webster Groves with 28 unanswered points in the second half of its matchup. Quarterback Jack Fox ran for a 37-yard touchdown, his third of the season, with less than a minute to play to seal the victory. ... Running back Daylen Edwards has rushed for 918 yards and 14 touchdowns. ... Linebacker Mario Whitley blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown against Webster. He leads Ladue with 88 tackles.
