Damion Baker

CBC football

A 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior cornerback and wide receiver, Baker sparked the Cadets on defense in their 55-10 drubbing of Kirkwood in a Class 6 semifinal Friday. Late in the first quarter with the Cadets clinging to a 7-3 lead, Baker intercepted a Wil Hadler pass and scampered 77 yards for a touchdown to shift the momentum in CBC's favor. Baker also made two tackles and shut down Kirkwood's top receiver Amonte Mason, who was held to one catch. Baker has 20 tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery this season.

Daylen Edwards

Ladue football

A 5-10, 185-pound junior running back, returner and defensive back, Edwards carried the ball 32 times for 197 yards with touchdown runs of 65 and 4 yards in a 31-21 Class 5 quarterfinal win over Jackson on Saturday. Edwards was coming off a 130-yard, two- touchdown game in an upset of Webster Groves. A powerful runner with great vision and instincts, Edwards is averaging 7.0 yards per carry and leads the Rams in rushing yards (1,245) and touchdowns (18).

Drew Lauer

St. Charles West football

In a 49-28 Class 4 quarterfinal win over Westminster, Lauer, a 5- foot-10, 185-pound senior running back and cornerback, led the Warriors' offensive onslaught by carrying the ball 15 times for 142 yards and two touchdowns and catching four passes for 63 yards. He also contributed on defense with three tackles. Lauer is second in the area in touchdowns (35) and among the leaders in rushing yards (1,741). On defense, he has 32 tackles, one sack and one interception.

Edwardsville swimming

A junior, May won two individual titles and was part of two winning relay teams to lead the Tigers to the team title in the Edwardsville sectional at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center. May won the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.84) and the 100 butterfly (55.31) and swam the third leg on the 200 medley relay team and led off the 200 free relay. May, who finished third at state last year in 100 fly, has qualified for state in 100 fly, 200 IM, 200 free relay and 200 medley relay. …
